Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) is going to win the first deal in this year. Currently, Japanese shipowners have been discussing long-term chartering business of LNGC with GAIL, Indian National Gas Corporation. After finalizing the deal, SHI will win building orders of 6+2 LNGCS.

According to the related sources, the talks on chartering of 174,000 cbm class-LNGCs are almost finalized among MOL-NYK-Mitsui& Co. consortium, K Line-Mitsubishi-Foresight Group consortium and GAIL. It is not yet decided which consortium is the winner.

It is allegedly said that GAIL is going to order 11 LNGS for transporting Shale Gas from the US. The sole shipyard consortium, Samsung Heavy Industries-Cochin shipyard will build all the LNGCs and SHI will be in charge of 8 vessels out of them.
